Essay Syllabus

The Essay Paper will be divided into three parts. Candidates must choose one subject from each section and write an essay of approximately 700 words on that topic. In the three sections, the topics of essay will be based on the following :

  • Section B: (1) Science, Environment and Technology. (2) Economic Sphere (3) Agriculture, Industry and Trade.
  • Section C: (1) National and International Events. (2) Natural Calamities, Land slide, Earthquake, Deluge, Drought etc. (3) National Development programmes and projects

UPPCS General Studies Papers:

 

The UPPCS General Studies Papers include six papers (GS I to VI) including History, Geography, Polity, Economy, Environment, Science, Ethics, and Uttar Pradesh-specific topics, each carrying 200 marks.

  1. History of Indian Culture - Salient aspects of Art Forms, literature and Architecture from ancient to modern times.
  2. Modern Indian history(from A.D.1757 to A.D. 1947): Significant events, personalities and issues, etc.
  3. The Freedom Struggle- its various stages and important contributors/contributions from different parts of the country.
  4. Post-independence consolidation and reorganization within the country (till 1965A.D.).

UPPCS Prelims Exam 2024: Marking Scheme

The UPPCS Prelims Exam is the first stage of the selection process and features an objective, multiple-choice format. It consists of two papers – Paper 1 and Paper 2, with details provided in the section above.

Negative Marking: for every incorrect answer, 1/3rd of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted. Understanding this marking system is essential for improving accuracy and maximizing your score in the exam.

Negative Marking
