Eligibility Criteria:

 1. Age & Max. No. Of Attempts
• Minimum Age : 21 Years
• Maximum Age Limits & Limited Attempts :
+ For General : 32 years (Attempts - 6)
+ For OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) : 35 years (Attempts - 9)
+ For SC/ST : 37 years (Attempts - unlimited) 
+ For PH General : 42 years (Attempts - 9)
+ For PH OBC : 45 years
+ For PH SC/ST : 47 years

Note : If you appear for any of the papers of the Civil Service Preliminary Exam, your attempt is counted. 

2. Minimum Education Qualifications :
The candidate must hold a degree of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University Under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification.

Note : Graduation Final Year Students can also apply.

Examinations:

 There are three phases of Civil Service Exam. These are -
1. Civil Service Preliminary Exam (Prelims): MCQ based Questions with 1/3rd penalty.

Salary:

Since the 7th pay commission, salaries of the Civil Servants have come at par with those in the corporate sector. Apart from the pay scale, the perks and subsidies provided to civil servants are excellent.

Job Security: Civil servants cannot be fired easily and that offers them a deep sense of job security. Once selected, civil servants work till the age of 60 and it is possible to get an extension.
